HUMAN APPENDIXES HAVE NO KNOWN FUNCTION, BUT THEY ARE USED TO GIVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IN BOOKS OR DOCUMENTS

My interest on crowds appeared one day that I was taking a walk and found a piece of newspaper that looked like:
a colorful rock field; an arab carpet; leaves on the autumn grass; TV noise; a pile of garbage...

None of these things were human and still related somehow to the crowd. The incident made me ask questions about the relevance of crowds: why do people gather in big groups? how can I describe a crowd in an indirect way? is it possible to use the multitude as a theme but also as a method?

I found that Elias Canetti has a book about the topics that interested me.
His book became a source of inspiration, and his writings were a companion that told me I was not so lost.
After this experience, I started working with words. I was reluctant to do it since I believed that images have their own language. But I found that letters, graphemes, have materiality. I imagined myself walking up one morning and running into a big ARAUCARIA word, two feet tall.

 

 

LOS APÉNDICES HUMANOS NO TIENEN UNA FUNCIÓN CONOCIDA, PERO SON USADOS PARA DAR INFORMACIÓN ADICIONAL EN LIBROS O DOCUMENTOS

Mi ineterés en las multitudes llegó una vez que caminaba en la calle y encontré un trozo de periódico que parecía:
un campo de rocas coloridas; un tapete persa; hojas en el pasto de otoño; ruido de Televisión; un montón de basura...

Ninguna de estas cosas eran humana y de todos modos se relacionaban con las multitudes. El incidente me permitio cuestionar sobre de la relevancia de las multitudes: ¿por qué se congrega la gente en grandes grupos? ¿cómo puedo describir una multitud de manera indirecta? ¿es posible usar a las multitudes como tema pero también como método?

Encontré un libro de Elías Canetti en donde aborda los temas que me interesan.
Su libro se convirtió en una fuente de inspiración, y sus escritos fueron compañeros que me firmaban que no estaba tan perdido.
Después de esta experiencia, comencé a trabajar con las palabras. Al principio me resistí, porque creía que las imágenes tienen su propio lenguaje. Pero encontré que las letras, los grafemas, tienen materialidad. Me imaginé a mí mismo, acabando de despertar, tropezándome contra la palabra ARAUCARIA de medio metro de alto.
